Jolting both the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti the incumbent Chief Minister and the Central Government , Tariq Hameed Karra one of the founding fathers of ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party and the Member Parliament representing Srinagar-Budgam parliamentary constituency Thursday afternoon announced his decision to quit as Member Lok Sabha and as well as the party-PDP.Announcing the decision at overcrowded and rather jam packed press conference at his Shivpora residence in the outskirts of Srinagar the PDP’s top political heavyweight and giant killer of 2014 parliamentary elections Tariq Hameed Qarra also appealed to other parliament members and the legislators in protests against what he called “the brutalities” perpetuated by both the central and as well as state government in Jammu & Kashmir.
Saying that he was feeling suffocated and his conscience was shaken by the PDP’alliance with RSS back BJP during the last two month especially, due to what he called “PDP’s newly acquired avatar” during the present upheaval, the PDP veteran said “ my conscience can’t take it any long. My heart is bleeding and my soul in crying for my own people and take call of conscience and as a mark of protest on moral grounds against brutal policies of BJP at the centre and state government’s complete sell out and surrender before them, I have decided to disassociate myself from the primary member ship of the party and from the membership of parliament to which I was elected from Srinagar parliamentary constituency on PDP ticket”.
Announcing the decision to forward his resignation to both the Speaker Lok Sabha Kara and as well as PDP President Mehbooba Muftt tomorrow Kara in reply to a question Karra said “ I have neither decided to launch a new party nor form a third front till now, but will surely consulted liked minded people before taking a decision on future course of action”. Asking parliament members and the legislator both MLAs and MLCs to take a decision of their own conscience Karra said “ I leave it to the conscience of other Parliament Members, MLAs and MLCs to decided whether they would like to side with their helpless people or let the bloodshed continue perpetuated by RSS driven BJP and facilitated by PDP. With folded hands I call upon MPs, MLAs and MLCs that at this critical juncture remaining would be paramount to facilitate the fascist forces for more death and destruction and decimation of distinct identity of Jammu & Kashmir”. Expressing the confidence that MPs, MLAs and MLCs of Jammu & Kashmir following his pursuit would act as elemental stumbling blocks for the fascist forces to realize their evil designs, Karra said, “It would also attract the attention of all other forum that matter to uphold the universal human values and human rights.” (KNS)
