Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Ch. Lal Singh today launched posters of 240 bird species of Jammu province at Kala Kendra Jammu.The pictures, captured by renowned wildlife photographer and environmentalist Guldev Raj, received high appreciation. The photo of long-tail duck taken by him recently at Gharana was a rare record for India as well as for Jammu and Kashmir.The programme was organized by Himalayan Avians Foundation in collaboration with J&K Wildlife Protection Department.Lal Singh appreciated the work of Raj who is not only harnessing his unique talent but contributing towards conservation of our rich flora and fauna. “Such efforts are really the need of the hour when the man is playing with Nature just to meet his worldly needs”, he maintained. He appealed the young generation to play their role in such noble endeavors to protect and preserve the gifts bestowed upon us by Nature in abundance. He assured full support for such efforts.Guldev Raj, while speaking on the occasion, said that he had captured about 240 birds till date and is looking forward to continue his mission with same spirit and zeal. He informed that a book on birds is also being written.The exhibition will remain open upto September 15, 2016.
