Oakridge International School, Mohali celebrated ‘Hindi Diwas’ with an aim to rekindle the love for India’s official Language. 14, 1949, was when Hindi was adopted as the official language of the Constituent Assembly. The staff and the students of Oakridge celebrated the Day with great gusto wherein the Hindi Department staged special Program. The students sang songs in praise of Hindi, made a presentation of amazing facts regarding the country’s most widely spoken language. The students whole heartedly Participated in elocution, poem recitation competition. Students also got a chance to speak on the importance of learning the national language.
While honouring the winners Ramanjit Ghuman told that Gandhi used this language to unite the whole India and used this language as language of unity. Hindi is also called as a link language, which connects the united India. She further informed that this language has travelled a long distance to make its presence felt in the World. It is spoken in many parts of the world and its one of the main language in Mauritius, Surinam, Trinidad and many others including the U.S.A, South Africa, New Zealand etc. It is not only the mother tongue of 180 million people, it is also the second language of almost 300 million people.
