Kiran Choudhry, Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party, has shamed the BJP Government, led by the Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, for making about 100 players from the Handball Academy, Narwana, many of whom have played at the national and international level, to skip the morning training session, serve water and carry empty glasses at the “Gaurav rally” held by BJP at Jind. She has demanded a probe into the matter. In a statement issued here today, the former excise and taxation minister said the fact that as many as 46 of these players had represented India at international events, including the South Asian Games in Guwahati, the Asian Handball Championship in South Korea, and the international handball meet in Sweden and won awards, made one hang one's head in shame and showed how much the BJP and its government cared for the players."Given the fact that it happened not only under the nose of the BJP top brass, the chief minister and the sports minister, but was done with their purported consent, makes the issue assume serious proportions and exposes BJP beyond any cover. The state government should order an inquiry into the matter and take action against those responsible for making the players serve water at the rally", Mrs Choudhry demanded.
