Amid unrest, Water scarcity hit several Srinagar areas

Inhabitants appeal authorities to redress their grievance

Amid unrest in the Valley, the inhabitants of several areas of Srinagar here have complained of acute water scarcity in their area.Accusing the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to ignore their plights, the residents of several Srinagar areas here have demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances.Inhabitants of Gadood Bagh Habba Kadal, Nowgam, Naik Bagh, Abu Bakar Colony and Budshah Nagar told KNS that they are facing acute water scarcity from past one week thereby resulted in immense hardships to the people here.

They said that Public Health Engineering (PHE) department has left them on god’s mercy. “Nobody is paying heed to our sufferings. We are not getting drinking water from last seven days thereby are facing tremendous hardships,” Zahid Shafi, they told KNS.According to KNS correspondent, the inhabitants said due to the water scarcity in their area, they have to go to other localities to fetch water in these days of unrest.“We approached even the officials of PHE department as well but unfortunately nothing has been done in this regard,” they said.The residents later appealed to higher ups to look into the issue and redress their genuine demands at earliest.
