Secretary Horticulture Department M. H. Mallik today inspected Govt. fruit plant nurseries at Vijaypur and Ramgarh in District Samba. He was accompanied by Director Horticulture Jammu Bhawani Rakwal, Deputy Director Horticulture (Central) Rajeev Mahajan, Chief Horticulture Officer Ajit Kumar Sharma and other officers of the Department.The Secretary inspected the mother blocks of Guava and Mango plants which have been imported from CISH, Lucknow and PAU, Ludhiana at Govt. fruit plant nursery Vijaypur. He stressed for proper maintenance of nursery, mother blocks and to prepare a plan for its upgradation based on scientific lines. While visiting Govt. fruit plant nursery Ramgarh, he directed for preparation of a detailed project so that the area can be utilized to its fullest potential.While interacting with Horticulture Development Officers of the District, he exhorted upon them to prepare a data bank in respect of area and production of various kinds of fruit plants. In addition to this, he directed the officers to prepare block wise prospective plan highlighting the activities to be undertaken in that particular block.
