The senior Vice President of Awami National Conference (ANC), Muzzafar Shah on Friday said that the 35 member parliamentary delegation visiting Kashmir to take stock of the spiralling situation going out of control, is a futile exercise and nothing more than an excursion trip after 55 days of bloodshed, loss of lives, blinding and maiming of children by using of pallet guns and unprecedented shut downs and curfews with no end in sight. In a statement issued to KNS from New Delhi, Shah said, “Kashmir has witnessed these types of interactions, deliberations since 1989 with Prime Ministers, Home Ministers, heads of political parties, parliamentary delegations, interlocutors etc. etc., in search of amicable and peaceful solution of the vexed Kashmir issue. Unfortunately, the recommendations, observations and reports taken / prepared by these committees and submitted to various centre governments , till now have yielded no results with no serious attempts ever having being made to act upon these reports by any government of India till date.”He said that today, when youth is agitating and up in arms and asking for final solution of the vexed Kashmir issue , a just one day token visit of this parliamentary delegation that does not have any blue print or powers available to suggest a way forward is nothing but a sham.Hence, Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference has decided to abstain from such an exercise.

The AN’s senior Vice President has reminded Government of India as well as the visiting parliamentary delegation who mostly are well versed with Kashmir issue , particularly 1953 episode, 1952- Delhi Agreement, reversal of the laws from 1953 to 1975, the report of restoration of autonomy presented by National Conference , the report on reversal of 1953 laws presented by our party president and late Chief Minister G M Shah along with reports of Self Rule etc need to be deliberated upon immediately under a structured dialogue with all stake holders particularly both the factions of Hurriyat Conference, civil society members to be brought on board to take final a call on the peaceful & final dispensation of the Kashmir issue. Shah further stated that it is the right time to conduct 5- Region Summit of civil society at Srinagar, Jammu, Ladakh, Gilgit and Muzaffrabad, blue print of which is already laid down before both the governments of India and Pakistan by ANC - to take views and recommendations of the principle suffers of this dispute, the people of Jammu and Kashmir living on both sides of LOC for a final settlement. In this regard, Shah yesterday spoke to PAK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Hyder Khan who once again welcomed this concept of holding Intra-J and K dialogue and has given consent to act as host for the conferences in Muzaffrabad and Gilgit.
