Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Tariq Hussain Ganai today chaired an officers meeting to take stock of arrangements being made for upcoming auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.Directing the Assistant Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs for ensuring availability of adequate stock of essential commodities including Rice, sugar, Atta and LPG on ration ghats, the DDC said that all Ration Ghats remain open from 8 a.m to 8 p.m even on holidays for the convenience of general public. He also asked for intensifying market checking to curb illegal profiteering and selling of substandard food items.
Directing Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Ganderbal for ensuring cleanliness of Eidgahs, Mosques and markets and repair of damaged and non-functional street lights within three days, the DDC asked the PDD and PHE authorities for ensuring uninterrupted power and water to the people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.It was decided in the meeting that the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments would make available chicken, sheeps and goats for sale as per the past practice. The Assistant Regional Transport Officer was directed to ensure availability of adequate number of vehicles especially on Hazratbal route for the convenience of the people. The senior officers of district administration and members of Civil Society attended the meeting.
