Training programme on Women Empowerment concludes at IMPARD

A three-day Training Programme on Protection of Women against Domestic Violence (Women Empowerment) organized by J&K IMPARD, Jammu concluded here today.The programme was organized under course coordinatorship of Dr. Sunita Zalpuri, Professor, Social Sciences IMPARD, Jammu wherein 15 participants from Health and Police Department attended the training.The programme dealt in length with issues related to Women Empowerment and protecting Women against domestic violence. The main focus of the programme was to discuss multifaceted processes required for women empowerment and to enhance the awareness of participants to the subject In this regard, number of sessions were delivered by subject experts to participants through lectures, video sessions, discussion and case studies on women. The sessions were engaged by subject experts Ms. Nayeema Ahmad Mehjoor, Prof. Reeta Jitender, Sh. Aseem Sawhney, Prof. Rekha Choudhary and Dr Sunita Zalpuri Kaul.

Ms. Nayeema Ahmad Mehjoor, Chairperson of Women Commission took the session on Domestic Violence Act and apprised the participants about  the role of State Commission for Women in  protecting the rights and also highlighted the need of having shelter houses for women with counselling facilities. She also highlighted the role of helpline, SMS service and counsellors in Police Service for protecting the women rights.Ms Nayeema also appreciated the efforts of J&K IMPARD in conducting such programmes. Deputy Director, Kewal Krishan, and faculty members attended the programme.The certificates were distributed to the participants in the valedictory session by the Course Director, Dr. Sunita Zalpuri.
