A solemn and impressive function was organized at the Samadhi of Sardar Beant Singh Ji Late Chief Minister, Punjab on his 21th Martyrdom Day today. The day was commemorated as Balidan Divas, in which a large number of people paid floral tributes to their leader, at his Shaheedi Samarak/Memorial, Sector-42, Chandigarh. A Sarv Dharam Prarthna Sabha (prayer meeting of all religions) was also organized on the occasion.A galaxy of senior leaders of congress party led by Harish Chaudhary, Secretary, AICC and In-Charge, Punjab Affairs and Charanjit Singh Channi, Leader of Congress Legislature Party and senior functionaries of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee including leaders of different frontal organizations of the Punjab Congress, District Presidents and representatives of various social organizations, besides family members of the late leader, were present on the occasion.Those present on the occasion recalled the services of Sardar Beant Singh in restoring peace to the trouble torn state of Punjab during the turbulent period of militancy, they recalled how the late leader sacrificed his life at the altar of peace.
