Member Parliament Shamsher Singh Manhas made a surprise visit to J&K State Social Welfare Board office here today.During his visit to the camp office of J&K State Social Welfare Board at Pragati Bhawan Jammu, Shamsher Singh Manhas took stock of various activities and achievements of the Board.He also interacted with Chairperson J&K State Social Welfare Board Prof. Nirmal Gupta to ascertain functioning of the State Board which is operating in the State for the last 61 years under the aegis of Central Social Welfare Board.Prof. Nirmal Gupta apprised him with the current ongoing activities and also discussed various problems being faced by the Board. She said that efforts are on to make J&K State Social Welfare Board a strong institution which can cater to the weaker sections, BPL people, destitutes and handicapped, Senior Citizens as well as unemployed youth in the State. Prof. Nirmal Gupta gave a brief insight of the new initiatives in the pipeline which have been taken up with the State Government as well as Central Government.Shamsher Singh Manhas appreciated the achievements of the board and assured that he would take up the issues and problems faced by the board at the concerned quarters .
