Chief Minister Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal has taken a strict action by dis-empaneling the Mohan Dai Oswal Cancer Hospital from the Mukh Mantri Punjab Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme because of not providing cashless treatment to the cancer patients and violating the guidelines of the Scheme. As per Government sources, on the basis of complaints received in Department & during Chief Minister's Sangat Darshan Programme, explanation was called from Mohan Dai Oswal Cancer Hospital. This decision has been taken because of non-satisfactory reply from the hospital. Recently Grecian Hospital was also dis-empaneled because of charging money for treatment from cancer patient instead of providing cashless treatment under the scheme. In this regard, Punjab's Health Minister Sh. Surjit Kumar Jyani stated that Government of Punjab had empaneled 19 Hospitals to provide cashless treatment to cancer patients from the date of diagnosis, out of which above said two hospitals have violated the guidelines of the scheme.Principal Secretary Health, Ms Vini Mahajan said that till now Punjab Govt has spent Rs 415 Cr (appx) for the treatment of around 33,300 cancer patients, under this scheme.
