Former Minister and National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar Tuesday said that Kashmir has become a military garrison as troops are at the helm of affairs in the territory. He said that people are suffering while government is in no mood to provide them some respite from the continuous curfew. Sagar told news agency CNS that the armed forces are in complete charge of even civil affairs.“People have been caged. People are short of baby food, eatables, milk and medicine. Medicos are being harassed and ambulances are targeted by government forces. Journalists face harassment. Curfew passes are not honoured. There is complete chaos and confusion and government seems nowhere in sight,” Sagar said adding that the irony is that police is forcing shopkeepers to shut their shops.Nowhere in world can we find an example where protectors of law force traders to shut their business when they try to open up their shops. Such repressive tactics can make the situation more complicated,” he said and added that there is dire need to give some respite to the caged people. (CNS)
