Minister for Technical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari today called for imparting skills which would be in consonance with the local market so that more jobs are ensured for youth and they contribute positively in generating new avenues for others as well.The Minister was speaking at the first governing council meeting of Jammu & Kashmir Skill Development Mission held here today.Minister for Finance, Labour & Employment Dr. Haseeb A. Drabu, Chief Secretary Mr. B.R Sharma, Financial Commissioner Planning, Development & Monitoring Department Mr. B.B. Vyas, Principal Secretary Agriculture Development Department Mr. Sundeep Kumar, Secretary Labour & Employment, Secretary Technical Education, Director Labour & Employment and other senior officers of different departments were present.Molvi Imran Raza Ansari called for undertaking coordinated and synergised steps by different departments involved in the skill development mission so that the real motive of this programme is fulfilled and necessary skills are imparted to the youth of the state which would intern result in changing their socio economic profile by providing them the much needed job opportunities.

Minister for Finance Dr. Haseeb A. Drabu while speaking on the occasion called for effective convergence of different trades and skills in order to make the mission broad based and also in consonance with the existing market realities. He said that by doing so we would be involving and imparting skills to a larger number of youth so that they can either be absorbed in various trades or create their self sustaining units.It was also decided in the meeting that the governing council of the mission will meet once a quarter to consider/approve outcome based plans and oversee translation of skill policy into action, frame guidelines regulations and rules. Besides the coordination, implementation and monitoring committee will meet once a month to review implementation of the policies for the skill development mission and take corrective measures needed besides also approve specific proposals.It was also given out that two Food Craft institutes at Jammu & Leh and two Mali institutes at Jammu & Srinagar shall be utilised for imparting training 500 youth and a stipend of Rs. 1000/- per month shall be provided to the candidates. It was also decided that the ICDS Centres and other training institutes will be utilised as centres for skill development. It was also informed that two skill development initiatives would also be undertaken in each district besides 675 youth would be imparted training in horticulture trades/skills in selected ITI’s across the State.
