UDAN:Under training Kashmiri students allege harassment at Gurgoan

Kashmiri students selected under UDAN scheme and presently under training at Gurgoan Mansar Sikandarpora of Haryana  have alleged harassment by police and local students in the wake of uprising in Valley after the death of Hizbul Mujhadeen commander Burhan Wani.News agency CNS received several phone calls from Kashmiri students saying that Gurgoan Police was continuously harassing them from past three weeks. “Police parties arrives in our rooms, ask us different questions related to Kashmir imbroglio,” said one of the students adding that the the police action has created a high degree of fear among Kashmiris living in Gurgoan.Another student said that their identity cards and other documents are being checked thoroughly on daily basis. 

“We fail to understand why check our identity cards on daily basis,” he said.These students alleged that they did not attend their training program for few days because of harassment by the police.The students also alleged that some local students have got emboldened after frequent police visits and they too have now started harassing them. “We are feeling insecure here and appeal to Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir to look into the matter,” they said. Pertinently, Udaan is a Special Industry Initiative for Jammu & Kashmir in the nature of partnership between the corporates of India and Ministry of Home Affairs and implemented by National Skill Development Corporation. The programme aims to provide skills training and enhance the employability of unemployed youth of J&K. The Scheme covers graduates, post graduates and three year engineering diploma holders.
