Communist politician from India Brinda Karat Wednesday claimed that All Parties Meeting called on Kashmir in New Delhi was a ‘flop show’ where instead of seeking suggestions from cross section of political leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to thrust his own agenda. “I don’t know what Modi is up to. He is having his own agenda on Kashmir. Instead of resolving the Kashmiri issue he is making it more complicated,” Karat told Kashmir based news agency CNS over phone from New Delhi.Brinda Karat who was elected to the Rajya Sabha as a Communist Party of India (CPI) member in 2005 said that All Parties Meeting on Kashmir was called on their demand.
“We were specific and clear on Kashmir problem. We emphasized that Kashmir is a political issue that needs to be resolved politically, but to our shock and surprise, Modi instead of listening to our views, came up with the Balochistan theory,” she said. She said that: “we fail to understand what Modi has in his mind. He has his own agenda on Kashmir and is not ready to listen from any political party,” she said adding that the way Modi and his party are looking at Kashmir is very unfortunate.Brinda Karat said that they disapprove the tactics and the manner in which Balochistan issue has been raised. “Provocative statements are not going to help us win the hearts and minds of Kashmiri people,” she said.
