Militant attack leaves 3 armed soldiers dead in North Kashmir

Two army personnel and a policeman were killed when militants attacked a security convoy on the Srinagar-Baramulla road during the dead of the Tuesday night. Four soldiers including a police man were wounded in the attack and are being treated in Army hospital Srinagar. Reports said that militants took a security convoy by surprise when they showered bullets on the army vehicles near Khawja Bagh Baramulla, killing two army men and a cop Pritpal Singh who was in charge Kot at District Police Lines Baramulla.

A police official told CNS that militants ambushed an army convoy early on Wednesday in the town of Baramulla, killing two soldiers, and then struck at a police jeep when it arrived, killing one policeman, he said and identified the slain army soldiers as Sepoy J.Gosh (6497105K) and Sepoy Shakti Singh (15692195X). Four injured security men Sepoy Pawan Kuman, Sepoy V. Laxman, Sepoy P.K.Das and police driver Nazir Ahmed were shifted to 92 Base Army hospital Srinagar.Shortly after the attack, a massive search operation was launched in the area, however the militants reportedly managed to flee from the spot.
