Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, Advisor to Chief Minister, Punjab today lashed upon Congress Party for baking their political bread on the sensitive case of abduction of Shruti from Faridkot and launching a mischievous, baseless, motivated and politically aimed campaign against Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister for their petty political gains.Addressing the media persons, Grewal and Media Advisor Harcharan Bains said that Punjab Police was pursuing the case of Shruti abduction most vigorously and 11 out of 13 accused have already been arrested and hunt was on for the remaining accused and assured that main culprit would be behind the bars very soon. He said that on the day one Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister had said that Shruti was like their own daughter and state government would not leave any stone unturned to locate her and punish the guilty. Grewal said that shielding the accused was the culture of Congress. He said that when former Chief Minister Partap Singh Kairon was murdered, the then Home Minister of Congress Party gave the statement that it was not a political murder, thereby closing that angle of investigation for the police. He said that when a grandson of Former Congress Chief Minister was accused of molestation of foreign girl, the then Congress Government refused to budge, till High Court forced the Government to register the case one and half month after the incident. He said that in the triple murder case during the Congress regime from 2002-07, the then Congress Chief Minister gave public statement that all accused congressmen named in the FIR were innocent, giving oblique direction to his police not to act on FIR. He said that SAD-BJP always believes in justice and was committed for early arrest of accused. Accusing Congress Party for using Shruti case to deflect the attention of Public from Coalgate, Vadragate, Grewal said that taking the delegation to Raj Bhawan instead to Chief Minister, reflects the petty politicization of sensitive cases by Congress Party. Grewal said that Sukhbir Singh Badal was monitoring the progress in Shruti case personally and media hype being created in this case was further pressurizing the police. He said that within one hour of the abduction, the Faridkot police had registered the case and delay in the arrest of the culprit was because they had crossed the boundaries of the state. The Advisor said that Punjab Police was sensitive to the cases especially involving girls. He cited the unfortunate suicide case of Shivali, in which Deputy Chief Minister an enquiry by the Inspector General of Police and was asked to submit report within 48 hours. Within 10 hours of submission of report by IG, Principal Secretary Home ordered registration of FIR against three culprits including one inspector and two media persons. He said that Punjab Deputy Chief Minister always shows remarkable sensitivity in all such cases and Punjab Congress party trying to grab headlines at the expense of Shruti abduction case.
