Bikram Singh Majithia, Information and Public Relations Minister Punjab today asked PR Officers adopt proactive approach and focus on providing factual feedback of problems being faced by people and communicate them the policies and programmes of government in simple and logical language. Presiding over the meeting of District Officers and Media Heads of Public Relations Department of the department, Majithia pointed out that it was imperative for each PR professional to work like an intelligence wing of the government and report the effectiveness of programmes and policies launched by the government for the welfare of people. They must give a periodic feedback to the government regarding these policies and discrepancies, if any, in their implementation so that benefit of these policies percolate to the desired people, he added. He said that SAD-BJP government had implemented a series of programmes for the welfare of downtrodden, backward and scheduled castes, farmers, artisans and other section of the society. The purpose is that benefit of these polices should reach the each targeted section of the population. Majithia asked the officers to communicate the policies of the government to the people in a more forceful manner. Describing PR Officials as integral part of the government being its eyes and ears, Majithia said that it was imperative for all of us to assist the media by providing them required information on programmes and policies of the state government timely. Majithia also asked the officers in general and DPROS’ in particular to be considerate towards both electronic and print media in their respective districts so that more congenial atmosphere could be evolved in highlighting the achievements of the government. The Minister said that he was fully committed to the welfare of officials of the department and announced that where the hard working officers would be suitably rewarded there would be zero tolerance for any laxity on the part of any officer. The minister assured the officers that the financial constraints would not be allowed to hamper the functioning of the department at any cost. He said that the all the required infrastructure would be provided to the newly constituted districts of Fazilka and Pathankot. He pointed out that the progress of the department would be reviewed regularly and genuine difficulties and hardships faced by the officers in the day to day functioning would be sorted out in these review meetings. Addressing the meeting, the Media Advisor to Chief Minister, H.S. Bains, asked the PR Officers to release special stories on various development projects. D.S.Mangat, Director Public Relations department urged the officers to perform their duties with utmost devotion, dedication and responsibility. He called them to tide over any sort of impediment in the way of their day to day functioning by upgrading their knowledge and professional skills. The officers assured the Minister that they would strive hard in realizing his aspirations to act as a bridge between government and masses.
