Doctors of Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bijbehara Saturday staged protest against the alleged highhandedness of Station House Officer (SHO) Bijbehara and demanded strict actions against him.Doctors including other medical staff of the SDH Bijbehara assembled outside the Hospital and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’.The protesters were demanding strict action against the officer. While talking to KNS, the protesters said that at around 07:30, the ambulance carrying an injured youth was detained by the SHO near Sangam and released the same at around 09:00 PM. “The youth had sustained bullet injuries and doctors in the hospital referred him to Srinagar’s hospital for specialized treatment,” the protesters told KNS.

They said that the authorities have failed to take action against the ‘erring’ officer in past as well. “We had complained against the officer in past as well but unfortunately our plea felt into deaf ears,” they said.Castigating the ‘deplorable’ behaviour of concerned officer, protesters said that he is harassing the medical staff of the hospital by one way or another. “The officer should be dealt with strictly so that the medical staff could feel a sigh of relief,” he said. The protesters later dispersed peacefully.Reports quoting SHO Bijbehara said that he stopped the ambulance for 10 minutes for the sake of investigation.“We are accountable and to give answer to our superiors it was responsibility to find out who fired upon the youth. For that reason, we brought the injured youth into the police station. He is stable and is being treated in the hospital,” he said. (KNS)
