Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology, Choudhary Lal Singh today exhorted upon the Forest Guards undergoing training at Soil Conservation Training School, Miran Sahib to discharge their duties with utmost honesty and dedication.Addressing the trainees during his visit to the school, the Minister advised them to get maximum benefit of the training to become efficient forest conservators. He asked them to imbibe professional ethics which will serve as a guide for them to perform their duties efficiently and effectively. He asked the trainees to uphold the sanctity of their profession and work as a team.The Minister stressed upon the trainees to contribute their best in further streamlining the working of forest organization and develop work culture.Choudhary Lal Singh said that forest schools and institutions are backbone of forest department and government is keen to upgrade existing infrastructure in these institutes. On the occasion Conservator, Working Plan Circle, Dr. K Anandh apprised the Minister about the activities undertaken by the institution to transform the recruits into competent and professional forest officials. 

He said that during the rigorous training course special thrust is laid on to ingrain spirit of public service and loyalty towards duty among the recruits.It was informed that during the   professional training, the forest guards are exposed to subjects like basic Forest Silviculture, Forest Mensuration, Forest Engineering, Forest Botany, Wildlife Management, Forest Law and Accounts etc. while Physical Training, Parade, sports activities, marathons are held regularly to   keep them physically fit.The trainees are also imparted   training in Civil Defense,   Survey & Demarcation by the specialist resource persons in the respective fields.The Minister directed the school authorities to maintain strict discipline in the school and make physical training a regular feature to further enhance the physical endurance of the trainees which will help them in performing their duties effectively. He also directed them to provide healthy diet to the trainees during their stay in the school.

Highlighting the importance of Urdu as official language, the Minister directed the Principal of the school to put in place adequate arrangements for teaching Urdu   to all the trainees.Choudhary Lal Singh directed the school authorities to identify a place where each trainee will plant 1000 saplings. He also asked them for planting more trees in the school premises.The Minister also took round of the school premises and inspected the classrooms, hostel and library. He also visited the museum where various wood samples, seeds of different plants and photographs of indigenous birds are displayed.While inspecting the school premises, the Minister directed the management to start the restoration work of old building to provide additional hostel rooms to the trainees.Later the Minister also planted a sapling in the school premises to demonstrate the exact technique of planting trees and asked the trainees to follow it.Chief Conservator Forests Jammu Roshan Jaggi, Conservator of Forests, East Circle, Naveen Shah, DFO Jammu Dr. Sansil Kumar, Principal, Soil Conservation Training School, Munish Bhardwaj, Principal, Forest Guard Training Centre Doomi, Akhnoor, Rakesh Abrol, concerned officers and trainees were present on the occasion.
