With the aim to encourage learning by doing concept in classrooms and enthusing students to create, tinker and innovate Intel India in collaboration with RMSA Punjab is organizing three day extensive technology workshop at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sohana, Mohali. The workshop is hosted under Intel Tech Challenge India program.While inaugurating the workshop Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab said that the objective of the workshop is to get young children to develop an interest in design, discovery, coding and develop their computational skills through play and learn activities; to give wings to their creativity and to inculcate a spirit of innovation and a scientific temperament among the young citizens. The challenge involves the participants being exposed to latest ideas and innovations in the field of technology and access to series of resources for self-learning through ideation sessions leading to Do-it-Yourself projects and themes and submitting them. This will be attained in two phases comprising of Ideathon & Makeathon over the period of three days

Idea thons are an important phase of Intel Tech Challenge - India, where students come up with new ideas. 214 students from the school and nearby schools participated in the ideation session of over three hours. Mentors engaged with the students and discussed about the evolution of technology. It was an interactive session where they explored on a variety of topics like - What is innovation, how technology has evolved over a period of time and what it will look like in future. All participants submitted their ideas which were subsequently shortlisted by the expert team for the Makeathon to be organised the next day.Prominent among others who were present at the workshop included Mr. Pardeep Aggarwal, Director General School Education, Ms Shipra Chadaury, Manager Co-operation Affairs, Intel, Ms Saloni Singhal, Mr Shiraz, Dr. Gurjit Singh, Additional State Project Director, Mr. Maninder Pal Singh Sarkaria, Deputy State Director Project Director, Mrs. Usha Mahajan, Principal Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Sohana
