Punjab To Organise 46 Cattle Fairs In August

The Punjab Government today announced the schedule of 46 cattle fairs to be organised during the month of August, 2016 in every district of the state.Divulging the detail of the schedule of the cattle fairs an official spokesman of Punjab Rural Development and Panchayats Department said that cattle fair in Abohar would be organised from August 11 to 15, in Mudki from 23 to 24; in district Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar  Derrabassi on  12 , Dau Majra (Kharar) on 20 and Lalru on 27; in Faridkot on 12, 28-29 and Jaito on 21; in Amritsar Vallah 12, 13 and 23-24; in  Ludhiana Samrala on 13, Chhappar 16, Iyali(Baddowal)  17- 20, Jagraon 22- 23, Ghaure 25-29, Khanna 28, in Jalandhar Sarae Khas on 13, 19 and 30;  in Sri Muktsar Sahib Killianwali on 14, 22 and 28;  in Gurdaspur Batala 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 28 and 29; in  Sri Fatehgarh Sahib Nabbipur (Sirhind)15;  in Ropar Sri Anandpur sahib on 15, 16,  Morinda 25th; in Kapurthala Subhanpur 16, 17, 25 – 27; in Bhatinda Maur on 17,  20, 24 and 31  cattle fairs would be organise.

He further said that similarly in Patiala Rajpura 17- 18, Nabha 22; in Sangrur Sunam 18, Malerkotla 20, Bahadur Singh Wala 29; in Hoshiarpur Tanda 18 and 26; in Moga Charik 18, 19 and  Kot-Ise-Khan  24-25; in Barnala Dhanaula 27, in TarnTaran 31 and  1stand 2nd September, 2016 cattle fairs would be organised.He said that these cattle fairs are being organised to educate and encourage the farmers to domesticate milch cattle of best breeds and to motivate the farmers to adopt dairy farming as subsidiary occupation to supplement their income. He said that department has made elaborate arrangements including required infrastructure for cattle fairs to further facilitate the buyer as well as sellers. A booklet with dates and directions related to cattle fair has also been published by the department of Rural Development and Panchayat.He said cattle fairs were being organized every sunday at Killianwali (Sri Muktsar Sahib), every Wednesday at Maur (Bathinda) and daily at Rajpura, Mansa, Boha, Gonianana, Dau Majra (Kharar) and Samgoli ( block Derabassi), daily at Ludhiana,Amritsar, Madhopur (Bhatinda), Malerkotla (Sangrur) and Jalandhar.
