The Congress today blamed Centre Govt over the silence being maintained with regard to deteriorating situation in Kashmir. The party expressed surprise over the lack of concern on the part of Centre to put an end to current unrest the fire of which has started engulfing the whole State. The Party appealed all sections of the people across the State to maintain communal harmony and age old tradition of brotherhood, besides urging them (people) to defeat the nefarious designs of elements harming the age old tradition of unity in the State.

Lashing out at Centre Govt for adopting negligent attitude about the current turmoil prevailing in the Valley, JKPCC Chief G. A. Mir expressed surprise over the way centre is taking the current unrest, the fire of which has started engulfing the whole State. PCC Chief cautioned the Centre and State Govt of serious consequences if they fail take appropriate and sincere measures to restore normalcy, without any further loss of time.

He said that no serious efforts were being made to put an end to the turmoil. The regular civilian causalities do invite protest demonstrations from the people across the valley, as a result, the situation continues to deteriorate, he said immediate measures, at all levels, should be put in place in order to restore normalcy. Reiterating his appeal to people to maintain calm, PCC Chief asked the forces to exercise restraint, besides urging the higher authorities dealing with law and order to make serious efforts to put an end to the use of excessive force on the people, as the killings and grievous injuries to thousands has resulted in an explosive situation all over the valley.

Stating that things were already out of control of the State Govt, rather the current unrest was an outcome of wrong policies and mishandling of the situation on the part of State Administration, PCC Chief said that ruling dispensation is still in a moribund condition, not even able to speak to centre seriously over the current unrest, he asked the Centre Govt to make serious efforts for prevalence of peace, before it would be impossible to bring things back to normalcy.

Appealing people of the State to maintain communal harmony and age old tradition of unity and brotherhood, PCC Chief said that people of the State have always respected emotions of one another and this time too, they should continue to remain united thereby not getting swayed by the elements vitiating peace and communal harmony to serve their vested interests. Mentioning that Congress believes in unity, togetherness and is fully committed to ensure atmosphere of amity in the State, the Party won’t allow any force or factor on earth to damage the civilized culture and age old tradition of friendship, unity and togetherness in the State, PCC Chief added.
