Garden City College of Science and Management Studies has a history of creating dreamers, winners and achievers. The students in Garden City College not only learn what the syllabus prescribes but also harbor and nourish out of the box thinking and the skill set that is required for them to create a niche for themselves once they step outside the college gate. College life, as much as it comes with fun and excitement, can also be a challenging phase in a student’s life. After all, it is the phase where a young student, just in their teen years, steps out of school and begin their life as a college student. With this notion, Garden City College hosts the Fresherism, a 20 day long programme that includes various events and activities for the freshmen in college.The event started on 18th July with the orientation programme. The aim of the orientation programme, that went on till the 20th of July was to familiarize the freshers with the culture and environment of Garden City College and the curriculum of their respective areas of study. The main event of Fresherism 2016 kicked off on 21st July, with Let Me Know Your SQ, an event where participants had to share a Facebook post from the college FB page at an interval of every one hour. It went on for two days that is 21st and 22nd July.
Next was Har Ek Friend Zaroori Hota Hai, held on 22nd July, where the students were given a Google form in their mail and which they had to send to their friends in their native places to get feedbacks. Next in cue was an event named Train Your Brain, that was held on 23rd July. This was a GCC connect app based event where students had to participate in a quiz event. The fastest person sending the answers received the more points. 24th July saw the Collage Making and Movie Screeing event followed by Housie and Antakshari on 25th July, Fresher’s Got Talent (Talent Hunt on Stage) on 26th July.The top 300 freshers were declared on 27th July. A Hurdle Race was organized on 28th July, followed by Sketch The Chorale on 29th July, where 5 different songs were played for 5 mins. The participants had to draw the message hidden in the songs or the connection.1st August saw Know Your Campus (Treasure hunt based on campus locations) followed by Duedas, an event where the students had to bid scrap products and utilize the given fund, on 2nd August.
3rd August saw the very exciting Splash Bash, a water pool event and the top 150 freshers were declared. A Survival Camp was held on 4th August, followed by a DJ night and Italian Theme Dinner on 5th August. Fresherism 2016 concluded on 6th August where the various departments of the college were introduced with much pomp and show and the top 100 freshers were declared.Our beloved Chairman His Excellency Dr. Joseph V. G., Honorary Consul of the Republic of Maldives in Bangalore graced the finale with his presence and said “ You have to behonest in life and respect yourself” .Garden City Group of institutions founded by Chairman Dr Joseph V.G in 1992 has carved a niche for itself in the education map of India with students from across the length and breadth of the nation and over 77 countries worldwide. Garden City College has been reaccredited with A Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council – a body of UGC, would become a University soon called the Garden City University.
