Forest Block Officer Nabbed Red Handed With Rs.8,000 Bribe

In a major breakthrough, the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab (VB) has nabbed Forest Block Officer red handed with the bribe of Rs.8,000.Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that the complainant Mr. Shamsher Singh s/o Mr. Jetha Singh resident of Village-Jhakian, Ropar has lodged a complained that he has applied for permission from forest department for mining since he has to level the land of his residential plot, which was very low. He said that Gurdas Singh, Block Officer in the Office of District Forest Officer, Ropar demanded bribe amounting to Rs.10,000 for granting permission for mining and he received Rs.2,000 on January 29, 2014 as part payment.The spokesperson further said that a trap has been laid by VB, Range Ludhiana headed by Inspector Paul Singh, VB Unit-Ropar and the accused Gurdas Singh was arrested red handed, while accepting the bribe money amounting to Rs.8,000. A case under section 7.13 (1) (d) R/W 13(2), PC Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Ludhiana has been registered against him.
