Minister for Consumer Affairs, Public Distribution Department, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has instructed for speedy execution of prestigious Anas Irrigation Canal project in Budhal area of Rajouri.In this regard, the Minister chaired meeting with concerned here in which Secretary PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sanjeev Verma, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmad Batt, Director Command Area Development Jammu, Chief Engineer Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control Jammu, Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic Circle Rajouri and other concerned officers were present.The Minister said that Anas Irrigation Canal Project is prestigious one which need to be expedited at the earliest so that if starts benefiting thousands of people of Rajouri district. He said it is the dream project of late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Expressing concern over delay in execution, the Minister said that the Construction of this Canal with an initial cost of Rs 53.99 Cr was approved under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) of Central government with 90:10 sharing basis between Centre and State government and the foundation stone of the project was formally laid down on 28 April 2015 by Former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He added that subsequently the allotment of the contract for Engineering, Procurement and Construction was approved to an agency subject to conditions of formulation of complete DPR.The Minister instructed officers to take the project as a mission so that it is completed well before the set time.
