Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday raised Mahatma Gandhi's assassination in the upper house, saying no autopsy was conducted on the body.Raising the issue amid protests from the Congress, Swamy said it should be discussed as "parliamentarians" were also making comments on it and were pulled up by the Supreme Court."Recently the (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi government has placed most of the files related to assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in the national archives, I had a chance to go through it, a lot of comments are being made, including by the parliamentarians. The Supreme Court has to pull them up, and give them warning," he said.

The Supreme Court had recently pulled up Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi over "collective denunciation" of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and said he may have to face trial for his allegation that the RSS killed Mahatma Gandhi.Congress members however protested saying no names should be taken, to which Swamy replied, "I will only name Mahatma Gandhi, I will not take any other Gandhi's name.""Mahatma Gandhi was not subjected to any postmortem. As a consequence there was a dispute in the trial of the number of bullets fired. The newspapers said four bullets, prosecution said three bullets..." he added. However, the zero hour was over before he could complete his statement.
