Jagmeet Singh Brar, Convener of the Pehlan Punjab - Lok Hit Abhiyan and former congress working committee member today chaired the first meeting of the Lok Hit Abhiyan's advisory council here in Chandigarh. The meeting was attended by more than 200 Advisory Council members including Ex MLAs and Ministers from across Punjab including district & block coordinators who have been running the Abhiyan's door to door contact programme.The council stressed on the need to provide a viable platform to leaders with clean images in their efforts to rescue Punjab from its woes, and unanimously resolved to authorise Jagmeet Singh Brar to take any decision in order to create a grand alliance of like minded forces.Addressing media after the meeting Brar said "The landscape of Punjab politics has changed a lot in the last two weeks and today there is a mass exodus of suffocated and sidelined leaders from traditional parties like Cong and Akalis"
He added "Many clean leaders are now rising for the people of Punjab; we must set aside political ambitions and have one common aim - to rescue Punjab from Cong/Akali fixed matches and give Punjab a better future. All of us must understand that this cannot be achieved alone - we must unite"He said "Congress and Akalis are the cancer of Punjab with deep roots and deeper pockets - all likeminded people will have to come together to beat them or we will end up dividing votes and this disease will win again in form or another"Reacting to various new parties being announced he said "I'm hearing of a new party every week, from Doaba to Malwa, Koi Apna, Koi Nawa, Koi Purana Te Koi Purbiya - why are we dividing Punjab? 'PUNJAB SANJHA HAI; MAA SANJHI HUNDI HAI - MAA NU BACHAO, VANDO NA" .. Every divided vote goes to Sukhbir & Capt"He declared "As advised by my colleagues I will now begin efforts to forge a mega-team of clean & committed leaders to form a grand coalition - a MAHA-GATHBANDHAN to end the fixed match system of Sukhbir and Amarinder"Reacting to the developments regarding Navjot Singh Sidhu he said "I can understand how Navjot feels today - even I was kept away from Punjab for years by a coterie in the Congress. It is clear that like me, today Navjot is also putting Punjab's interest above every personal or political goal.
