The Sainik Sadan Project, SAS Nagar Punjab, after expansion is to be inaugurated by General K.J. Singh on July 28, 2016, informed Lt.Col. (Retd) P.S.Bajwa, Defence Welfare Services Officer, SAS Nagar. The Sainik Sadan will provide all facilities extended by Punjab government to the Ex-servicemen, under one roof, said he.Giving details he said that the Sainik Sadan houses an Assistance Centre of Army Headquarters, to deal with cases pertaining to salary and record of soldiers. A liquor and a grocery canteen will also be available here. Besides, a training centre to impart coaching for B.Sc and M.Sc.(I.T) and  Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application(P.G.D.C.A.) to wards of Ex- servicemen and the SC/BC children  at a meagre fee is also available here . An ATM of IDBI Bank and a rest house is also in the complex. The construction work of nine out of 18 rooms is complete, said he and added that the Sainik Sadan is fully computerised and co-ordinates with the E- governance system of Punjab Government.Lt.Col. (Retd) Bajwa further informed that in the recent meeting of Kendari Sainik Board, presided by Hon’ble Union Defence Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar, setting up E.C.H.S and a lift at Sainik Sadan  has been accorded approval.
