Vowing that the “Drug Dragon” is all set to swallow its “Creator’ Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), State Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Sucha Singh Chhotepur on Tuesday said that if Sarwan Singh Phillour could be dropped as cabinet Minister after his son was summoned by Enforcement Directorate (ED), why Akali minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia and CPS Avinash Chander should be not be given marching orders. “Son of the former Minister, Damanvir Singh Phillaur’s demanding resignation of Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) Avinash Chander, after he (Chander) was summoned repeatedly for questioning on multi-crore drug racket by ED, look like as ‘scattered gang’ of drug, in which one of the member of gang was expelled, but other gangster (Chander) and kingpin of the Gang (Majithia) are still in operation”, Chhotepur said. After ‘Gulping’ lives of several youth of Punjab, the “Drug Dragon’ has now turned towards its “Mentor” and in the days to come more Akalis are expected to raise the demand of Majithia’s resignation, as he was also summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for his ‘suspected’ involvement in the multi-drug racket, Chhotepur vowed.
Chhotepur revealed former Punjab jails minister and senior Akali leader Sarwan Singh Phillaur’s son Damanvir Singh’s name cropped up for the first time in the Jagdish Bhola drug racket in February during the latter’s interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).As per Bhola’s disclosure to the central agency, Damanvir was involved in the drug trade and had introduced Delhi-based smuggler Varinder Raja to Chunni Lal Gaba, a businessman who owns a cold store in Goraya and a drug unit in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh).Ultimately, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal within no time took resignation of Phillaur as Cabinet Minister, which was the first ‘Akali Toll” of Drug Dragon, Chhotepur said.Knowing it very well that later on the “Drug Dragon” would turn to its “Political Boss”, Majithia, Akalis preferred to avoid any action against CPS Avinash Chander, he said.It is not only AAP, but entire Punjab knows it very well that who is drug lord of Punjab, Chhotepur claimed adding that strong evidences came up several times against Majithia during the course of investigations in the multi crore drug racket, but Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Punjab Police have failed to act against him to take the case to its logical end.
Evidences of ED showed how Majithia provided patronage and protection to several international drug smugglers who used his (Majithia)’s residence in Amritsar as base for drug smuggling, AAP’s Convenor said.He said ED records showed that drugs worth thousands of crores were both smuggled in and out of Punjab by cartels linked to Majithia. He claimed Majithia provided Punjab police gunmen, official cars, personal residence and political patronage to facilitate the movement of drug smugglers within Punjab, as per the ED evidence. The ED probe officer Niranjan Singh was conspicuously transferred 20 days after he summoned Majithia to investigate his role in drug trade and later on the transfer was subsequently stayed by the Punjab & Haryana High Court, AAP leader said. Two close associates of Majithia including Maninder Singh Aulakh and Jagjit Singh Chahal, who were arrested for drug paddling, revealed name of Majithia as their “Boss”, Chhotepur said adding that another international drug smuggler named Jagdish Singh Bhola has also named Majithia as being involved in drug trade.
