The Congress on Thursday said atrocities against the Dalits across India during the National Democratic Alliance government's rule since May 2014 were following a "pattern" which was evident in its polity and actions."It's a pattern of the BJP and the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh). It is seen in their polity and actions ever since they came to power (at the Centre)," Congress spokesperson Sushmita Dev said at a press conference here."Atrocities against the Dalits in the country are at a peak. This has become a symbol of the Bharatiya Janata Party governments (in the country)," she said.The Congress MP said incidents against the Dalits were shameful and thus condemnable.The issue of atrocities on the Dalits snowballed after four youth from the community were severely beaten up on July 11 in Gujarat's Una town for skinning a dead cow, which is their traditional occupation for centuries.There have been protests across Gujarat ever since.The issue of Dalit unrest in Gujarat rocked Parliament on Wednesday as the opposition members accused the government of being anti-Dalit.
