Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today felicitated the newly appointed Chairman of Punjab Safai Karamchari Bhalai Board Mr. Raj Kumar Atikaye on occasion of the assumption of charge, here at its office in Forest Complex Sector 68.Addressing the supporters, friends and relatives of Mr. Atikaye who had converged here on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the state government was committed to ensure the welfare of the weaker and disadvantaged sections of the society, for which it has initiated a number of pro-poor welfare schemes. He said that it was for the first time in the history of Punjab that in order to safeguard the interests of the Scheduled Caste community the state government has constituted the Dalit Vikas Board and Punjab Safai Karamchari Bhalai Board, with the representatives of the community as its Chairpersons. 

Lauding Mr. Atikaye for his unflinching commitment to serve the disadvantaged sections of the society zealously, Mr. Badal hoped that he would play a pivotal role in ensuring the well being of this stratum of society besides protecting their interests. Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Members of National Executive of Adhi Dharm Samaj (AADHAS) Mr Aadi Parkash and Mr. Kailash Pursharthi, Vice President Aadhi Ambedkar Samaaj Mr. Surinder Makkar, former Director Punjab Pollution Control Board Mr. Ramesh Joshi, Mr. Darshan Mand, Mr. Satpal Takshak and Mr. Anand Rakshak besides senior officers of the civil and Police administration of the district.
