Dr Nirmal Singh inspects pace of progress on City projects

Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh Saturday conducted extensive tour of Jammu city and inspected pace of work on major projects including preservation work at Royal Complex Mubarak Mandi.The Deputy Chief Minister also interacted with delegations of traders’ union and civil society members and listened to their issues.Accompanied by Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture Tourism, floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi, MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta and a team of senior officers, the Dy CM visited Mubark Mandi Complex, Vegetable and Fruit Mandi, Maharaja Hari Singh Park on Tawi Banks, Transport Nagar and other places and took stock of developmental works taken up by different departments.Reviewing pace of work on the conservation of Mubarak Mandi Complex, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the place is symbol of rich heritage of state and in coming days it would be showcased as main attraction for the tourists visiting winter capital.

He said the Royal complex is being developed as a heritage site as part of government’s efforts to promote Jammu city as independent tourist destination.He asked the concerned agency not to compromise on  quality of work so that the pristine glory of the historical place is restored.   At vegetable and Fruit Mandi, Gangyal, while responding to the demands of local union representatives, Dy CM assured that steps would be taken to upgrade basic amenities including water, power and sanitation facilities, besides repair of interior roads of the Mandi.During his visit to Maharaja Hari Singh Park being developed on the Banks of River Tawi, the Deputy CM stressed on development of the earmarked area on modern lines. He stressed on massive plantation of ornamental plants and proper landscaping to make the place a real attraction for the tourists visiting the city from within and outside the state.The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected pace of work on the shops being constructed at Transport Nagar for the traders who are being shifted from General Bus Stand in view of construction of multi-storey complex there.Later Dy CM inspected pace of work on JMC Commercial Complex at Residency Road, 336 Flats being constructed at Sunjuwan for homeless, and construction of Nallah at Channi Himmat Colony. Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner Secretary H&UD Hirdesh Kumar, VC JDA Mubarak Singh and JMC Commissioner Mandeep Kour also accompanied Dy CM.
