About 21 road projects will be taken up in Billawar under PMGSY at an estimated cost of Rs. 160 crore to upgrade the road network in the area and Rs 4 crore have been earmarked for construction of Indoor Stadium at Billawar. This was informed by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh while addressing a public meeting held at Phinter to take stock of problems and demands of the people at their doorsteps.Reiterating commitment of the Government to provide essential amenities to the people and ensure equitable development of all the three regions of the State, Deputy Chief Minister said that developmental projects are underway to ensure requisite facilities to the people.During the public meeting, the villagers of Phinter apprised the Deputy Chief Minister about their demands mainly related to construction of Mini Stadium, Completion of Community Hall, Upgradation of Primary School, upgradation of road from Phinter to Cremation Ground, etc.

The people of Panchayat Dhed demanded immediate repair of hand-pumps in the area. Responding to their demand, Dr. Nirmal Singh directed the Executive Engineer Ground Water to immediately take up the repair works of the same.The locals of village Baddu put forth their demands and grievances including construction of Niyabat Building, upgradation of link road in Panchayat Baddu, preservation and repair of water bodies in the area, construction of Dugwell, introducing new courses in ITI College, establishment of Medical Sub Centres in far off areas, etc.The residents of Dharamkote village apprised the Deputy Chief Minister about scarcity of water in the area and demanded the construction of Water Reservoir in the area. Responding to the projected demands, Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned engineer to make temporary arrangements for providing safe drinking water to the people. He also assured the residents of Dharamkote that their demand for Water Reservoir would be addressed at the earliest. The people also demanded for timely distribution of ration in the area.

The people of Rampur Mandli panchayat also raised their demands pertaining to upgradation of roads, commissioning of grid station, upgradation of infrastructure in government schools and filling of vacant teaching staff besides various other demands.While listening the problems of village Dalian pertaining to construction of Khoag-Dalian-Baghar road, bridge at Dalian and opening of J&K Bank branch, Nirmal Singh informed the people that DPR of Khoag-Dalian-Baghar road has already been prepared and work on the same would be started soon.Deputy Chief Minister informed the people that the blacktopping of road from Sukrala to Phinter and Phinter to Baddu has already been completed whereas work on 25 km Dayala Chak to Challan road is in full swing and the remaining 5 km blacktopping works on the same would be completed at the earliest. The upgradation work on Bus Stand and Matador Stand in Billawar has also been completed for providing better facilities to the people, he added.Deputy CM said that Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana would be implemented in the state soon which would help in providing cent percent electrification and 24X7 power supply in the rural areas of the state.Later, the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated the Municipal Toilet Complex and Night Shelter at Billawar Bus Stand under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan completed at a cost of Rs. 27.50 lakh by Housing and Urban Development.Among others, SDM Billawar Rajesh Basotra, ACD Kathua Sunil Sharma, Tehsildar Billawar Vishavjeet Singh, BDO Mandli, CEO, DFO Billawar, XENs, SDPO, besides other senior officers of various departments were also present on the occasion.
