Amid widespread protests and clashes on the third day, death toll has risen to 31 in the Valley. Number of injured people admitted in different hospitals of capital Srinagar city succumbed to their injuries from Sunday night onwards till Monday.A police official said that stone-pelting incidents were reported from Hajin Sonawari, Mehjoor Nagar, Habbakadal, Batamaloo Srinagar, Arampora Sopore, Bandipora, Prichu and Newa Pulwama, Preng Kangan, Tulmul, Barsoo Ganderbal and Yaripora Kulgam.Stone-pelting incidents were reported from main chowk and Armpora Sopore. A police official said that a large crowd of protesters set police post Fruit Mandi Sopore on fire. He however added that they had already abandoned the said post.In Thregam protesters attacked police station resulting in the injuries of many people. Protests broke out in Nowgam Sonawari belt of North Kashmir’s Baramulla after police arrested a couple of youths from the locality for their alleged involvement in stone-pelting incidents. Local youth amid pro-freedom slogans blocked the road and clashed with the police. Confirming the arrest of three youth for their involvement in violence a police official identified these youth as Muhammad Amin Dar, Sajad Ahmed Shama and Imran Hussain.In Naidkhai area protesters clashed with police while a group of protesters hoisted Pakistan flags in the area that were later on removed by the police.
Massive stone pelting incidents were reported from Hanjipora Pattan, Palhalan and Pattan town. Armed Forces according to witnesses used pellets to disperse them resulting in the injuries of two youth who were shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar. Locals identified the injured as Ghulam Rasool Pandit and Muhammad Asif Mir. A lady was also injured during the clashes.Massive protests were reported from South Kashmir’s Shopian district when the news about the death of a youth spread in the town. Shahid Ahmed (13) a resident of Zainpora Shopian succumbed to his injuries on Monday afternoon. He was injured at Reshipora Shopian on Sunday evening when protesters had attacked an IRP camp in the locality. Large number of people participated in his last rites.Eyewitnesses told violent protesters who emerged on the road in large numbers in Kokarnag area of Anantnag district resorted to heavy stone-pleting. A police official said that unruly mob set a Fisheries Hut on fire that gutted completely while damage was caused to Jammu Kashmir Bank Building and ATM booth. In Pulwama district, protesters set police post Achhan on fire.
The old police post building located in Lassipora was also set on fire by the protesters.At Husanpora Kulgam protesters attacked a Railway Protection Force barrack and set the belongings including uniforms on fire. In Verinag, a court complex and the residence of a Judge was put on fire by a mob. Hospital sources informed that 59 people with multiple injuries were admitted in District Hospital Kulgam out of them 8 were referred to SKIMS, 8 to SMHS and 5 wounded were shifted to Bones and Joint Hospital Srinagar. They said that 42 injured are being treated at Emergency Hospital Qazigund. Sources from different hospitals said that the total number of wounded persons including cops brought into different hospitals was 444.At least six persons suffered pellet injuries at different places in Kulgam including Yaripora, Koimouh, Ashmoji and Bahibagh. In Navdal Tral, ten people with pellet injuries were referred to SKIMS Srinagar for advanced treatment. Stone-pelting incidents were also reported from Lariyar Tral. At least 16 persons were injured at Ladiyar Tral when paramilitary CRPF men opened fire to disperse the protesters, who reportedly attacked the CRPF camp in the area.Three critically injured persons were rushed to Srinagar for the specialized treatment, officials said.A youth identified as Amir Ahmed Latoo was injured when armed forces deployed at Zurpora Bridge in Bijbehara fired upon protesters. The injured was shifted to SKIMS Srinagar for treatment.Clashes broke out in different parts of Srinagar city including HMT Crossing, Lawaypora and Mehjoor Nagar. Protesters set ablaze a security bunker of CRPF at Lawaypora.In Preng Kangan in Ganderbal district armed forced resorted to aerial firing to disperse protesters. The protesters who had assembled in hundreds attacked government forces with stones. The clashes continued for hours.
