Thousands of people Saturday attended the funeral procession of most popular militant and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander, Burhan Muzaffar Wani who was killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.Witnesses said that people from across the valley mostly youth visited Tral, hometown of Burhan Wani to join his funeral prayers. “People assembled at Eidgah Tral and chanted pro-freedom, pro-Burhan slogans,” witnesses said, adding that thousands of people continue to pour in to the town to join the procession.
Meanwhile, reports said that at least a dozen of militants appeared in Eidgah in Tral town of South Kashmir to join the funeral procession of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
“The armed militants appeared at the funeral venue to pay homage to their slain commander. They also fired in air while his body was kept at his home. Three Nimaz-e-Jinazas have already been offered,” reports said. People from different parts of the Valley continue to visit Tral on bikes, trucks and load carriers. People have installed free langers for people while kiosks have been set up for medical aid and water. Witnesses said that the Sikh community had also installed langers for the people. (KNS)
