DC Kulgam flags off mobile soil testing laboratory

In a major relief to the farming community of District, the Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam today flagged off a mobile soil testing laboratory (Bus) of Horticulture Department from the premises of Mini Secretariat, Kulgam.Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of soil testing laboratory before sowing it evaluates the soil fertility and its suitability for a particular crop. He asked the farming community to come forward and avail the benefits of soil testing mobile laboratory as it would be kept available in the district for a week starting from today.Sharing details of zone-wise roaster of availability, the Chief Horticulture Officer, Kulgam said that for two days, it would be available for Kadder & Yaripora zones. On 8th, 9th & 11th July, it would be available for Kulgam, Arreh & Quimoh Horticulture zones respectively.Pertinent to mention here that it was a long pending demand of the orchardists to have soil-testing facility in the district.
