Rally organized to mark Intl Day against Drug Abuse

Department of Excise in collaboration with Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and J&K Wine Traders Association today organized a rally observe the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking here.As many as 300 participants and volunteers from NCB, Department of Excise and Paramilitary forces including Sashastra Seema Bal, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, NCC cadets, merchants, artists from Navdurga Kala Manch and locals took part in the rally.

Captain Bana Singh (Paramveer Chakra Awardee) flagged off the rally which  commenced from Nanak Nagar and passing through various  bazzars culminated at Jammu University Campus.During the rally, pamphlets were distributed among the general public listing the facts about commonly abused drugs and their ill effects on physical and mental health of an individual.On the occasion, the participants pledged to fight against Drug Abuse, Illicit Trafficking and other social evils.Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Shahid Saleem, Zonal Director NCB, Manoj Kumar, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Distilleries) Nagendra Singh Jamwal and other officers and officials from NCB and Excise participated in the rally.
