Terming the statements of the rightwing Bharatiya Janata Party’s leadership in India as an ostrich syndrome, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said that the assertions of the BJP leaders about keeping the people of Kashmir out from the process of resolution of Kashmir issue is not going to change the political and historical importance or the disputed nature of Kashmir as it is not an administrative, electoral or a law and order issue but an internationally accepted political issue involving the political future of the people.Addressing a massive gathering at the Jamia Masjid, Srinagar before the Friday congregational prayers, the Mirwaiz, while referring to the BJP leadership, said ignoring the people of Kashmir in any resolution process would not only be against the universally accepted political norms but would be in contravention to the principals of human dignity which would not be acceptable to the people of Kashmir.Mirwaiz called upon the BJP leadership to come out of its self illusions about Kashmir and while understanding the fundamental political as well as historical realities about Kashmir should adopt realistic policy and initiate a meaningful dialogue with the people of Kashmir and Pakistan for the resolution of Kashmir issue.

Describing the BJP Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement in Jammu that people of Kashmir had no role to play in the resolution of Kashmir issue, as his ignorance on the subject the Hurriyat (M) Chairman said that this issue involves the political future and aspirations of the people which can’t be taken for granted.Expressing astonishment over the hue and cry raised by certain BJP quarters over the invitation of Pakistan High Commissioner to Hurriyat leadership for an Iftaar party, the Mirwaiz said to blow out of proportions this simple invitation for a social event and present it out of its context speaks about the mental bankruptcy of such elements.

The Mirwaiz said the Hurriyat leadership would not remain silent over any policy that harms the collective interests of the people of Kashmir.Condemning the continued restrictions on the movement of resistance leadership and their arrests, continued house arrest of veteran resistance leader Syed Ali Geelani, arrest of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik and placing him in detention at Central Jail Srinagar, and arrests and house arrests of other resistance leaders, he said such tactics can neither cow down the resistance leadership nor suppress the peaceful resistance struggle of the people.Informing that the unified resistance leadership would announce joint resolutions regarding the Kashmir issue on Jumat-ul-Vida (the last Friday of Ramadan), the APHC Chairman said these resolutions would be presented before the people at all Masjids, shrines and Imam Barghas for their approval.

Announcing the Waiz-o-Tableeg programme during the remaining ‘Ten Days of Forgiveness’ of Ramadan, he said a Majlis would be held from 4 pm on Ramadan 20 (June 26) at Masjid Farooqui Lakripora, Nowshera while during the ‘Ten Days of Salvation’ of Ramadan, he said on Ramadan 21 (June 27) a programme would be held at Dastgeer Sahab, Sarai Bala from 4 pm to Asr prayers and in his speech, the Mirwaiz would shed light on the historicity and philosophy of Fateh-e-Makkah, on Ramadan 23 (June 29), a programme would be held at Masjid Peer Padshah Sahab Bota Kadal from 4 pm to Asr prayers, on Ramadan 24 (June 30) a programme would be held at Neeli Masjid Bota Shah Sahab from 4 pm to Asr prayers, on Ramadan 25 (July 1), a programme would be held at Jamia Masjid Srinagar in which importance of Juma-tul-Vida would be taken up from 12 noon and on Ramadan 26 (July 2), the Shab-e-Qadr would be observed at Jamia Masjid Srinagar from 11:30 pm to 2:15 amand people would participate in the repentance and forgiveness Majlis.
