One militant was Friday killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Waderbala village of Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.The death toll of the militants killed in Kupwara district from past 24 hours reached to seven.The militants were killed in three different encounters. An official told KNS that after specific information about the presence of militants in the area, a search operation was launched by a joint team of police and army.

He said that the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter in which the militant was killed.Pertinently, three militants were killed in an encounter in Dobwan forests of Lolab area of the district while three more militants were killed in another gunfight that raged in Waterkhani forests of Drugmulla area of the district.“The Identification of all the six militants killed from last 24 hours is yet to be ascertained,” a top police official said.
