Minister for Finance, Dr. Haseeb A Drabu today informed the House that presently there is no proposal to set up treasuries at Duggan, Lohar and Duggaini block headquarters in Bani tehsil.Replying to a question by Mr. Jeewan Lal, the Minister said that for opening of a treasury at a place, there are certain requisites like availability of branch of J&K Bank and sufficient number of DDOs who can operate upon the respective treasury, that need to be fulfilled.The Minister said that the distance from Billawar to Lohai is 25 kms and all 12 DDOs of Lohia block are presently operating at treasury Billawar.
He said that the distance from Bani to Duggan is 14 km and all 7 DDOs of Duggan block are presently operating at treasury Bani. He said that distance from Ramkote to Duggain is 14 kms and only 2 DDOs of Duggain block are presently operating at treasury Ramkote.In reply to the supplementaries, the Minister said that keeping in view 25 kms distance of Lohai block from tehsil headquarters, the Government would examine the feasibility for setting up of a sub-treasury there. He said that setting up of sub-treasury at Kellar is under examination of the Government. Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Bhat raised the supplementary to the main question.
