The Kashmir Economic Alliance, Chairman Haji Mohammed Yasin Khan on Saturday sought personal intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti over the ban on Abaya at DPS Srinagar due to which a school teacher had to leave her job there. In a statement issued to KNS, Khan said though the Education Minister termed the issue as serious on the floor of the house, the government was yet to initiate any formal high-level inquiry. “His reply to the legislature should not be about lip service but how seriously the government has actually acted against the school,” Khan said adding by now the accused should have been behind the bars.Khan said the ban on Abaya seems to be a part of some deep rooted conspiracy.
“Today its ban on Abaya at DPS Srinagar tomorrow it can be another ban elsewhere and finally Kashmir will be taken the France way where Hijab has been banned,” Khan said.Terming the diktat of the DPS Athwajan School as “highly condemnable”, he appealed the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to personally initiate a high-level probe into the criminal conspiracy over ban on Abaya.“The chief minister, who herself observers Hijab must seriously look into the matter and take strict action against the school authorities,” Khan said. “We will never tolerate Kashmir go France way.”He said given the sensitivity of the matter, the proceedings of any such inquiry should be made public on regular basis, till the case is taken to its logical conclusion.“We expect the government to resolve the issue in most transparent manner so that the worst fears as exist in the minds of the people are cleared, before things fester,” Khan said.
