JKEWA protests against Govt, demands salaries

Jammu and Kashmir Employees and Workers Association (JKEWA) Saturday staged demonstration here at Srinagar’s press enclave against the government for failing to provide their salaries from past eight months.The protesters assembled and chanted anti-government slogans. They were demanding their salaries which are withheld from last eight months.The protesters told KNS that at least 7000 need base casual labours were appointed by the government after 2005 whose salaries are withheld from past 8 months due to which they are facing immense hardships.“I am sole bread earner of my family and the government by not releasing our wages put miseries in our lives. Despite working with dedication, the government is not releasing our salaries on time thereby leaving us to lurch at large,” said Shabir Ahmad one among the protesters, adding that the government should release their wages at earliest so that their sufferings would end.Meanwhile, Mir Tariq Pampori, associations chairman while threatening to intensify protests against the government, said, “The government should fulfil our demands before Eid. In case, the government fails, we will come on roads for which the government will be held responsible,” he said. (KNS)
