The government Saturday said that it will inquire into the “serious” issue of banning of ‘Abahaya’ by Delhi Public School, Athwajan, in its campus, saying that “it cannot be done in the state”.“It (disallowing a teacher to wear Abhaya) is a serious issue. We will go into the truth of the issue and raise it with the management of the school,” Government spokesman and Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar informed the Lower House today.“We live in a multi-religious, secular country…..This is not France….Least of all, it cannot be done in the state,” Akhtar adding,” We believe the management is sensitive to the issues here.” According to KNS correspondent, the issue was raised by Independent MLA from Langate Abdul Rasheed in the Lower House. DPS on Thursday had banned a female teacher from banning Abhaya in the campus and inside the classrooms, and asked her to either wear abhaya or quit the job.

However, the teacher angered by the management’s attitude quit the job.Angry with the management, the students of the school protested on Friday and boycotted their classes. They demanded religious freedom in the campus and recalling back the teacher. On the issue of ruthless beating of a Gujjar and Bakerwal girls in a hostel by their warded, the government “psychopath” teacher has been suspended, and police has launched a hunt to nab her.

“Teacher seems to be a psychopath. She has used the most brutal way of beating the girls,” Akhtar said. He said that seven girls were thrashed by the warden, out of them two have fractures in arms, one has suffered head injury, one in abdomen. “I went to the hospital to inquire about their health. They are all stable and recuperating,” the minister said. Akhtar said that the warden has been suspended and an FIR registered in a police station. “She is absconding and police has raided four places to nab her,” he added. However, the Opposition MLAs including Congress’s G M Saroori, Independent MLA Er Rasheed demanded the warden be terminated. “Suspension is not enough. She must be terminated,” Saroori demanded.
