PDP Chief-Spokesperson and former Parliamentarian, Dr. Mehboob Beg has termed the upcoming Assembly election in Anantnag as a golden opportunity for the people of Anantnag and termed it as a means to address the constant 'neglect' that South Kashmir in general and Anantnag assembly segment in particular has faced in the past.Dr. Beg while addressing a series of well attended public gatherings in Utersoo Najigund, Wanihama, Chichadpora, Kamad, Dialgam, Krungsoo, Anzwal, Monghal, Lal Chowk and other areas of Anantnag town appealed to the 'political conscience' of the people and asked them to ensure Mehbooba Mufti's victory with a huge margin. Dr. Beg said that this was the opportunity for the people of Anantnag to have the 'sense of neglect' addressed and see Anantnag develop on all fronts. 'The intent of the present regime to develop and work for South Kashmir is already visible. Announcement of a Medical College and the Medical Institute underlines the focus and intent of the government', said Dr. Beg.
Dr. Beg also congratulated the people of Anantnag and lauded Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for having ensured that the Army vacates 458 kanals of land for expansion of the Kashmir University campus in Anantnag. 'It was Mufti Sahab who had previously ensured that the Army vacates over 200 kanals of land in 2004 and nothing moved after that. It is after Mehbooba took over that things are moving again, it shows that the government has the best interests of the people of South Kashmir at heart and is keen to address the sense of neglect in Anantnag', said Dr. Beg.Dr. Beg further hailed the announcement of direct flights from Kashmir to facilitate the holy pilgrimage of Haj.
