To foil the scheduled joint silent protest program of the pro-freedom leadership on 15 June against the Sainik and Pandit colonies, police Tuesday launched a massive crackdown on the pro-freedom people and detained dozens of Hurriyat leaders and activists in different police stations and houses. In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (G) spokesman said that rte leadership has announced that the proposed one hour sit-in protest will be held in Lal Chowk in any way and will press for our demand to abandon this proposal. While condemning the detention of Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar, Raja Mehraj-ud-din, Bilal Siddiqi, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed and dozens of other pro-freedom people, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani said that the Mehbooba Mufti government has surpassed all the previous records of muzzling the peaceful voices of the Kashmiri people.“The state has been practically handed over to the police and they want to silence every such voice which is raised against the anti-people policies of the government,” Geelani said.He said that the RSS and the Sangh Parivar want to implement their communal agendas in Kashmir with force and the state government is extending their every possible help to the commands from Nagpur.“The Muslims, Pandits, pro-freedom leadership and the civil society of the Jammu and Kashmir in one voice are opposing the construction of separate Pandit colonies but the Mehbooba Mufti is rigid on creation of transit colonies for the Pandits and shows no respect for the public voice,” he said.

In a bid to appease the RSS, the Mehbooba Mufti wants to slit the throats of the Kashmiri people and she can go to any extent for the chair. While opposing the Sainik Colonies in the Valley, Geelani revealed that most of the Sainik Quarters meant for the retired forces personals in Jammu have been secretly sold by them and they are living at their native places.Hurriyat (G) Chairman said that every retired serviceman after his retirement prefers to live at his native and ancestral home but the Sangh Parivar have to accomplish their anti-Kashmir designs under the grab of these colonies. “They want to change the demography of the Jammu & Kashmir state and want to create safe zones for the non-state subjects in the name of separate colonies,” Geelani said He said that it is Israeli pattern of policy which they want to implement in Jammu & Kashmir. While terming the crackdown of the pro-freedom leaders as the worst kind of state terrorism, Geelani while addressing the top brass of the state police said that they should adopt a broader vision regarding the Kashmir.“Kashmir issue is not any law and order problem which can be solved by using bamboo sticks and by arresting people. if it had been so then it could have been solved by the Qadir Gandarbali and the other people of his tribe,” Geelani said, adding that the Kashmir is a human as well as a political issue. “Kashmiri nation have never accepted the Indian forced occupation and nor will they endorse it in future,” he said.
