Students of Women’s College Srinagar Tuesday staged protest against Kashmir University for doubling their course fee.Scores of B.G 1st year 2nd semester students from Women’s College MA Road assembled at Srinagar’s Press enclave and were chanting slogans against the varsity. While talking to KNS, a protesting student said, “Kashmir University issued a notification which reveals that we have to pay 625 rupees for their course while the college authorities are asking us to pay 1350 rupees, which is clear injustice with the students.”The students told KNS that they have been misinformed about the fee structure. “The varsity officials have put our career at stake with such kind of deplorable behaviour. We should have been earlier informed properly about the fee structure so that the things could have been different this time,” the students said. They said that they belong to poor families and cannot manage to pay hefty amount. “We appeal the varsity officials as well as the College administration to look into the sufferings of students and redress our genuine demands at earliest,” they said. The protesting students later dispersed peacefully.
