Bengal CM announces college, super speciality hospital at Narayangarh

Fulfilling a pre-election promise, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced a slew of developmental projects, including a multi-super speciality hospital, in this block in West Midnapore district.In an election meeting here on April 8 ahead of the assembly polls, Banerjee had urged the people of this constituency to defeat CPI-M state secretary and Left Front-Congress tie-up's "face" Surjya Kanta Mishra.She promised that if the people kept her word, she would hold her first public meeting after the polls in Narayangarh and relish the area's famous lentil fritters. Thanking the 'Ma, Mati, Manush' (mother, land and people -- Banerjee's pet slogan) of west Midnapore district, the Chief Minister dedicated the victory to them."I had given you my word that if you ensure our win, I will come back and taste 'daler bora' (famous lentil fritters). 

So I am holding the first service delivery programme after the polls here," she told a huge gathering.The Chief Minister said during the past five years, the government had reached serices to 95 percent of the people in the district.Banerjee promised to set up a multi-super specialty hospital in Belda of Narayangarh.She said the 300-bed hospital, to be built at a cost of Rs 65 crore, would be completed in two years."This will be the 42nd multi-super specialty hospital established by my government," she said.She said a college will come up on a 10-acre plot give by the Bhadrakali Vidyapith authorities.A new power sub-station will be set up at Golma village at a cost of Rs 8 crore.Rs 13 crore would be spent for building a food godown, she said.Banerjee said her government has submitted a Rs 2,000 crore proposal to the Centre for implementing the Ghatal master plan for flood control.She said the remaining portion of the Rs 650-crore Keleghai-Kapaleswari-Baghai river project facilitating flood control and irrigation in 10 blocks spread over East Midnapore and West Midnapore will be completed soon.
