The first of its kind, a “Mega Kisan Mela cum Exhibition” was organized by RR Camp Vilgam in Collaboration with Department of Agricultural, Kupwara at Govt Higher Secondary School Vilgam.The event was attended by farmers from remote areas of Rajwar and Ramhal Block. The event comprised of series of informative lectures and display stalls providing wide array of info on Agriculture Techniques, Bee Farming, Fruit Production, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Sericulture and Fisheries  The information domain was also enhanced by experts from Krishivigyan Kendra  and  Co-op bank dealing with economics of Agriculture.The event was attended by prominent officials of civil administration Kupwara and Army.  The chief guest was Dy Commander  RR Sector Pohrupet, beside him many prominent dignitaries from Kupwara to include Chief Agricultural Officer, Distt Veterinary Head, HOD KVK, Chief Animal and Sheep Husbandry officers also attended the event.The event has garnered an overwhelming response from farmers especially from remote localities of Rajwar and Ramhal who could gain lot of information under single roof.  “Such events should take place every year it helps in understanding the Govt Schemes and new Technology.  For us poor farmers, our land is the only source of living, we thank the Army for organising  this mela”  said Rashid from village of Dardahaj.  The event concluded after free distribution of medicines and seed packets to locals including the medicines for treatment of Common diseases in animals.  Besides that since all the participants of the event were fasting due to Holy Ramdan they were all given takeaway of Dates & Banana as a goodwill gesture by army.The chief guest dedicated the event to local farmers and also expressed the gratitude to Kupwara Agriculture Department for making the event a big success.  He also urged the audience to uphold the slogan of Jai Jawaan, Jai Kisan given by the then PM of India Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1968.  The locals were appreciative of the exhibition and showed keen interest in understanding the nuances for betterment of their farm produce.
